Stormy Sunday Brunch,Cornelia Marie is OK! Camera Returned, Storm Damage, APL Crane, Christmas Decorations & The Firefighters Ball! Whew! What a week!

And it's another Stormy Brunch Sunday up Dutch Harbor Way...........
........it seems like a month since we really had any sun. Even Alexander is Hunkering Down!
But at the Hotel it is nice and warm.....Maybe today we can take our Brunch plates down by the fireplace and sit at the ALMOST Complete Christmas Tree. (Still waiting on Tinsel that Veda Brought. She did make it in Yesterday!!) Junior's Biscuits are really light and fluffy today..........
.......But just to make my sister JS jealous I am loading up my plate with some Turkey (Fresh made not leftovers) and Cranberry Sauce.
And Perhaps a slice of Prime Rib carved by Carl who is working his last Sunday Brunch Because I snagged him for the Housekeeping Department!
Chefboy is doing the typicl Superhero pose......
........but the Star of the Morning is Junior. Look, he almost seems to have a halo! Why would that be you Ask? Because after working all day and night for the Firefighters Ball, (You can see him in Kat's Photo later in this post at that) He had to go home a clean up a slovenly home from the remnants of his Parents Party. Naughty CD!
What a FINE young man he is turning out to be! Working all day and cleaning until late last night! And he makes an excellent Omlette!!
It has been a week of storms up here! High Winds (120+ MPH with gusts to 160) and lots of snow and rain. The week started out like this...............
.........but by yesterday had switched over to pouring rain and nasty winds.
Despite a rumor to the contrary The Cornelia Marie is Safe and Secure in her dock at Unisea.
I'm going to try to get up and see the Northwestern too today just to make sure the lady is Ok.
My Camera was returned. As I said no questions will be asked and the Curse is lifted.
With the Super high winds we did have some Damages all over town including the hotel. One of our Circulating Vents on the Boiler was blown off and some windows were cracked.
My friend Pattykins, upon hearing about "taping up windows" told me that the same things was done here almost 70 years ago in WWII when the Japanese Bombed the island.
Stop Signs and others all over were uprooted and tossed ...........
..........the New lights at Alaska Ship Suppy were Damaged........
.........one of the exterior Sculptures at the Museum was uprooted....... (Above is Before from back in February, Bottom is After)...........
......But the BIGGEST Damage of them all was to the APL Crane, The Biggest on the island.
This is how it looked a few weeks ago when Dan And I were out on his boat..........(BTW Dan Has a new live Camera on his blog, Go Check it out)
.......AND this is the Crane after it went "A$$ over Teakettles" During the Storm on Friday Night.
It is a miracle that no one was Killed or even injured when It fell. Thank you God!!
Maybe God was kind since he knew how much effort I was putting into his Birthday Party on the 25!
Just getting all the NEW LED lights up was a Chore! Thanks Ardis, Carmelita and Leroy.!
Once they Got about Halfway up though I did not trust anyone on the ladder but me..........
.......even so there were some Casualities..............
.....only two bulbs were killed in the making of this photo though...........
Slowly but surely it all came together!
And just in the nick of time for our first Christmas Party, The Firefighters Ball!
Katherine looked amazing in her dress! and Check out those Shoes!!!
(And Halo Boy Junior in the Background working hard)
Sara, Roger (In his Dress Blues) and Billy Jo! (Awesome Dresses too ladies though Katherine beats you out because of the shoes)

Next party is North Pacific Fuel on Friday then the Biggest Party night of them all next Saturday with The City Of Unalaska AND the Midnight Madness Sale!! Then on Sunday The Alaska Ship Christmas Pary. BUSY BUSY BUSY!

Gotta Try to get some rest this week to get ready for them!

Have a Great Day everyone!

Wow CB looks like the weather up there has been a bit blustery! Thanks for the wonderful pictures. The hotel looks great and I'm so glad the SPBCB (society for the prevention of broken Christmas bulbs) will not be after you!

Wow. Love the tree. makes me appreciate all the work that goes into making them look so good. I let my girls do the tree this year. It's the right size for them. My youngest things HoHo is gonna be really mad and won't leave presents cuz its not big and its purple.

Glad your camera was returned. Wow at all the damage. HUGS!

Cb brunch was wonderful everything looked so yummy. I am glad your camera was returned. Extra kudos for Junior for all the cleaning hee hee we all know how messy CD's parties are LOL. Wow that was some wicked storm and winds. Glad the hotel didn't sustained any huge huge damage. So glad no one was injured when the crane went over. The tree is gorgeous you did a great decorating job. Wishing you success on the upcoming parties

I really enjoyed this post. I was just feeling dreary about the dense fog outside here this morning... but suddenly it doesn't seem so bad! So glad no one was hurt during the storm up there. The Christmas tree is beautiful and, if I'm being honest, I'm probably not the most merry of folks... so, given how much I like it, it must be EXTRA beautiful. Great job!!

My faith in mankind was partially restored by your camera finding its way home! Thank you, person with a conscience!

Brunch looked dee-lish! You guys do it up so well!

We had rain here overnight. Some snow on the mountaintops (SF Bay area) but looking at your photos really puts things into perspective ... shut up, Caligirl, you don't know what a storm really is!!
