Sunday Brunch, Amazing food, Junior Haircut, Deadliest Catch Boat Update, City Council and Bunker Hill walk! Whew! What a Week!

Welcome to another Sunday Brunch At the Grand Aleutian in Dutch Harbor/Unalaska. As you can see, the other member of your Party, Mr Eagle, is already here waiting for you.
Let's just scoot around Paul from back at Halloween since he did not want to stand still today to take a picture.........

The snow is returning to the island, thankfully there is alot of great food to fill our tummies on such a cold day!

Lets start out with some Huevos Benedictos Latina with Corn Sopes, Chorizo Hollandaise Sauce, Ham, Chipotle and poached eggs.

If not, Chefboy and Eddie would love to make you up an omlette or waffle.

Now, a beautifully crafted Dish. Alaskan Halibut with Horseradish Cream, wasabi-beet Drizzle, and Crushed olives.

It's so good looking that the eagles have set up a permanent vigil on the lamp posts outside!

Rich really outdid himself on the food today. This dish is amazing. Seared Pork belly over noodles with a wonderful sauce that was spicy/sweet finished off with fresh mango, mint and cillantro. Amazing. Easily one of the best things I have eaten on the island, and just visually striking.

First a welcome back to Alaska Steve http://senseofplace63.blogspot.com/! The island was not the same without you. Here is your favorite Tug Hard at work out by the City dock.

It was pushing a large cargo freighter up to the Dock, Right behind the Farwest Leader. (Why they ever took the FL off DC I will never know. I really liked that boat)

The Aquila is the new Chase boat for DC, so I thought I would include a few shots.

I am happy to Report that all the DC boats have now left the Harbor. The Cornelia Marie Departed late yesterday evening. It will proably be a few weeks till we see any of them again as they are scheduled to do offloads up in Saint Paul before that harbor freezes up. Good luck Guys!

The Mighty Wizard. Kinda fun seeing them away from the Westward dock which is so high that you have to cross at the wheelhouse, instead of dock to deck.

They were shooting down on the TB so I did not want to get too close and mess up anything.

And Finally The Northwestern from a few days ago. Did not get them at the same time as the rest because they were away from the dock filming too when I was out that Way. For everyone who asks Jake seems to be doing as well as can be expected. I was asked to NOT put up anything on the blog about his dad. The Kid has alot going on right now and having everyone asking him his business is not helping. His family needs the money, so he needs to fish. That is the last I am going to say on the subject.

So It has been a busy week for me. Between a Full hotel, City Council meetings Including the wonderful Katherine http://capesarichefsalon.blogspot.com/ , our amazing mayor and those Bad Boys of City Council.......

.........CVB meetings including Miss N right there in the middle texting at a city council meeting...LOL...........

Even though it was bit wet we still made the short climb up on arch rock, (Which still to me looks like a lion in the upper right portion)

Yeah Kyle, it was a bit breezy, Just wait till this week on Monday and Tuesday with the up to 75mph gusts!

One good thing about Strong gusty winds is they turn up some nice large pieces of Beach Glass!

Hopefully this week will not be as busy and I can blog a bit more for you all........not looking good though..........LOL. Oh well, at least I am never bored!

Deadliest Catch Update

Sorry I have been so busy this week everyone. I am pleased to report that all of the Deadliest Catch boats, Save the Cornelia Marie left Dutch Harbor shortly after midnight last night.

The CM should leave today after Phil visits a shop we all know and love and picks up a replacement computer.

I'll have some of the last shots of the boats before they left Harbor up on the Sunday Brunch Tomorrow.

Cornelia Marie Rumor going about town proven False!

So, the Rumor that the Cornelia Marie "Backed Up" on to some rocks was just that....a rumor.

Some of the Heavy Wind gusts the other night blew it onto the rocks, resulting in the trip to Drydock. This is now confirmed by three sources

So, to make it clear there was no negligance on the part of the CM, Her Captain or her Crew. It was just a little bump, andPhil doing due dillagence for his crew wanted everything checked out before setting off into the icy waters of the Bering Sea in January.

It's one of the reasons he is one of the best Captains in the Fleet.

Sunday Brunch, Belinda, Bald Eagles, Bad luck for the Cornelia Marie, Basketball, Bye Bye Christmas Tree and Kyle!

Ok, Short and Sweet this week. I long for the days when the misty rainy days we had were against green hills. Now is it just misty and muddy with no snow!! I want Snow!!!

Food was great as usual. Junior made the PERFECT Omlette.

Paul got to meet Kyle. He is a blog follower who decided to take the plunge and start working for Unisea as a processor. I've been showing him around. Good Guy, so you will probably see more of him on here. Posting some pictures later in the post for his wife and daughter.

And I KNOW you have all been waiting for the return of Junior's Chocolate Covered Strawberries!!!

On to news.......

FINALLY turned in my Alaska Airline Miles application to Alaska Ship. They had been bugging me for a couple of weeks.......

Belinda, Branch Manager of Key Bank in Dutch Harbor/Unalaska, and Chairman of The CVB (Convention and Visitors Bureau) has just been promoted to be a Vice President of all the Key banks in Alaska!! Here is Brenda from the CVB pesenting her with some flowers!!

You Know you are in Alaska when an Eagle joins you for lunch!

Yes, The Standard CM Visit to drydock is back!! (Someone backed into a rock from what I heard....LOL)

Hung out with CD and AG At the local basketball games on Friday night. GREAT hanging out with you guys again!! Soon we have to start GLEE! parties since I just got the first 13 episodes on DVD.

Since it is hard to have visiting teams here the Varsity Girls play the JR Varsity Boys and then the Varsity boys play the Community.

And the Varsity boys Won!!! Congrats!!

Now that Russian Christmas is over it was time to take down the tree.......

It looks so empty now!!! I feel the need to Redecorate!!

Like I mentioned Kyle is now here and I am showing him around and introducing him......

.....and feeding him Brunch.

And showing him some eagles.!! He is doing Fine Star but misses you!! Maybe you will have to visit!!

Island Business Services KILLED by Bering Sea Office and Electronic Supply

Like a thief in the night (Actually it was the Middle of the Afternoon) Bering Sea Office and Electronic Supply came in and Slaughtered Island Business Services.............

.......Police have not announced any Suspects as of yet, but most people suspect it was an inside Job.

(The Main Person of Interest Miss Veda is refusing comment and is Standing by Bering Sea Office and Electronic Supply in this case standing at the front door...)

Miss Veda has a long and colorful history.........

.......From hanging out with 'Famous Celebrities"......

......to working Daily at the Current Victim's location......and continuing to work at the new Bering Sea Office and Electronic Supply!

This reporter caught up with her around Thanksgiving when she was headed to "Sin City" Las Vegas. Did she perhaps meet up with a hit man there?

For the record let it show that Miss Veda's Husband, Tom, is not a suspect in anyway, Has an Alibi, and is generally one of the nicest people you could ever meet.

Who could have known that the Beautiful Flowers from last Summer in Front of Island Business Supply would become a funerary wreath?
