Hello all, I am a resident here for five years strong and am reading this blog for the first time. I find alot of the things in this blog only pertines to the Deadliest catch, Where's the Russian church, Summer's bay, or photo's of the rest of the boats that fish these waters. I love this small island Unalaska and the strong community that makes this place special. lets get off the kick of the SHOW and show what this place really is. Brian get well soon and rest.
CB, poor baby - I'm sending you some virtual chicken soup - here's a southern remedy for you - put some rock candy in some Southern Comfort let it sit for a while and drink it down, you can warm it if you like!!

Right Now there is alot of DC action happening When there is not I do all the other stuff. Sorry, but you statement is based on misinformation. CB

Jeepers Christmas...what is it with people getting so bent. I live in Texas...1/2 the country thinks I have an oil well in my back yard, a horse, a 5 gallon hat and cowboy boots (liberal hyperbole used here). In reality, I drive a Camaro, hate country music and can't stand cowboy boot. People are going to have their own perceptions...that is LIFE! Give us some credit. I have been following Alaska Steve's FABULOUS blog for well over a year. I have learned much about Unalaska and the community through it. CB is posting about DC and the DC boats because there is a lot of interest in that. For D/C info we stop by the Dirt; for scenery and other goodies we stop by the Dirt and Alaska Steve's. Instead of worrying about what CB posts, it seems that your time would be better spent posting about Unalaska from your perspective. Now if you will excuse me, I need to see if my oil well has hit the mother load and prepare for my trip up to Dallas to hang with J.R.! Sheesh!

There are a ton of other Unalaska bloggers that write about the Russian Church, Summers Bay and some of the other cool things up there. And if you want community...go read some of his posts. He promotes other members of the community! As it says on CB's page...there are almost a billion others! Or better yet...start your own!
LOL!! Mystic, very well put. I can understand how certain people can feel that way BUT 1) Yes, they can blog themselves about whatever it is they feel the world needs to see about their home
AND
2) While they may think DC and related boats/crews get too much exposure in general, they need to realize that if not FOR DC, many of us wouldn't really know or realize these places "existed." I, for one, started reading Steve and Darryl's blog (and some others) BECAUSE of the show but not JUST to read about show related stuff. I thought it was cool to learn about this other part of the world. I didn't care if they didn't put a darn DC thing on their blog.
CB - I was going to offer to come up and kick some butt for you, for a sick guy you handled it quite well. I'd hate to make you mad when you are feeling good! Please take care of yourself because I really do look forward to your blogs and whatever fun pics and commentary you have in store for us each day. I enjoy all the blogs I read but yours, as everyone else's, brings a unique perspective to life in your little corner of the world. Keep it up and take care of yourself.
In defense of CB (not that he needs it) isn't this blog called Dutch Harbor Dirt? and doesn't the title say Dutch harbor and Deadliest Catch Gossip? Its all about one man new to an area and what is going on with HIM, we are all just lucky enough that he shares with us
I for one, am here because of the Mountain Dew and the buffet photos, its the little things in life haha
anyway.. keep up the great work CB, your images are amazing, you words are witty..thank you for taking me to a place I doubt I'll ever get to see
