Special Sunday Easter Brunch, Spring, Pumpkin Rolls, Hoss's Steak House, Shopping, and Cows.

Spring has SPRUNG in North Central PA,

So will you all join my family this Easter Day?

The Table is set with Mum's best china

But Before the main meal we must sneak a piece of the Peanut Butter Meltaway Egg...

Everyone agrees it is to Die For!!

If you have not had a Real Country ham before,
I feel Sorry for you.
Ham not pumped full of water and crap,
Roasted to perfection with love.

Mum in her kitchen with her beautiful gas stove.......Oh How I wish I had one up in Dutch.

Ernie carving the Perfect Ham.....

Sweet Potatoes and regular potatoes......

Our very own sweet corn that Mum Makes every year and freezes.

Even some nice fresh salad.

And Since Cookie Dough Cheated on Sweet Potato Fries I am having a baked one!!

Now, On to Desserts. Pumpkin Roll...(Recipie and Directions later in the post) Mum uses her own pumpkin which is why it is lighter than you might see when you make it from canned.

Pumpkin Pie, again with her own pumpkin.....

And Apple pie with her own apples, and her award winning pie crust. (If you all are nice (No No 13) I MIGHT post that recipie later)

Of course I had to have all three!!

Noticed this on the way to State College Yesterday. Reminded me of Dutch with the roads blasted out of the hills, just the wrong color.

And Now, Mum's secret Pumpkin Roll Recipie with a photo diary and help from Austin!

Mum Cuts off the uneven ends and those are what we eat once it is all rolled up!

Just a few more shots of Spring in North Central PA.

Even a Robin..........I think in Unalaska he would be Eagle food.................

I FINALLY got to one of my favorite Restaurants yesterday when I went to State College with my sister and Nephew......Hoss's Steak and Sea House.

Hoss's Has one of the Best Bleu Cheese Dressings in the WORLD, With HUGE chunks of Bleu Cheese in every bite. Just look at the piece on my fork!!

Beef tips with gravy and plenty of Mushrooms........

Joann and Austin!!

Some people think of this as just a store..........I prefer the term Heaven.........

Another Day, Another Full trunk.........Glad I brought that extra suitcase inside my main suitcase......

Ernie and Mum's New HUGE tractor.

Ernie with the small tractor taking a bale of hay out to the field.

Earlier giving out ground grain to the cattle. That black cow standing a bit back in the photo is the one that should be having a cow before I leave.

And I will end this day with the CUTEST calves!!

I hope everyone has a Great Easter!!!

I guess a Macy's is a big deal when you haven't been around one in a while huh?
Sometimes it's the "little" things...

AHHH, Easter like mine used to be before the Grans sold the farm! There is nothing better than home grown, home cured, and just plain home. Enjoy the rest of your time and don't forget to take extra cash for the overweight luggage charges. Love ya!

Country ham... yep, we had that growing up....nothing quite like it.... and the PA ladies do have a way with baked goods...My mother in law hails from Benton,PA, and lemme tell ya, she can do some amazing things with pastries...

Wow...that all looks delicious! I went to a Macy's, once when my daughter was 2...it's just not a good thing for me to go to "real" stores. Safer to order online, not as many impulse buys, I get too excited!!
PA is soooo different than Unalaska. It's fun to see and I can't figure out why you are OK here! :) Some of us don't know what we're missing we've always lived on isolated islands in the middle of nowhere.....
