Deadliest Catch Crab Report, and Running an Errand Unalaska Style to celebrate my one year Anniversary

To all the DC Fans out there,
Weather
Today - north 15 - 30 gusts 45 afternoon periods of rain, Tonight - north 30 - 40 gusts 50 scattered rain, snow, Thursday
north 25 - 35 gusts 45 scattered rain, snow, Thursday night and Friday - north 15 - 30 scattered rain, snow

Yes, that is right, for the first time this year they are predicting snow at our Sea Level Altitude. It certainly feels cold enough out there today!!
All the Boats are doing fine, with Slow to medium fishing. Most of them will be delivering to Saint Paul Island first, then they will finish up on trips to Dutch Harbor/Unalaska and Akutan. Hopefully I will be able to "Follow That Crab" again this year at one of the processing plants. For all you newcomers who are curious, check out http://dutchharbordirt.blogspot.com/2008/12/blog-post.html
To see the Processing of Cornelia Marie crab up close!!!

So Anyhoo, while I was out on Dan's boat the other day I took Care of a Little Housekeeping "Errand" I had been meaning to do...........(hey, it's ME, You know there is always a method to my Madness)

This is my Name badge from the Hilton Hotels. I had worked for that Corporation for a good number of years before I took on this challange. I was told that If I ever wanted to come back just bring my name badge to the nearest Hilton and I would have a job in a snap.

Now, Don't get me wrong, Hilton is the Best Hotel Company in the World, I loved my time there and I always try to stay at Hilton Properties if possible. However I do not want "That" life anymore. I Love this little island and the people on it.

I love taking a little boat ride and seeing Whales, Seals, Otters and Eagles.

I love Little Priest Rock!

And though it may seem funny for a boy who grew up in the mountains of PA, I Love Boats and the Ocean. Even Little boats!

Did I mention I love Eagles?

And I love my almost nightly walk around or up Bunker Hill. This job give me more satisfaction than I ever thought possible, This town gives me Great people to be even Better friends. And my Company pays me enough, and give me wnough vacation time that I can take great trips Home or to Europe not just once in a lifetime but twice a year.

September 29th, 2008 at 12:15pm is when I first set foot on this Island. October 29th, 2008 at 5:15pm is when I moved here. Ask ANYONE on this island and they can tell you when they first got here too. That is how Special this place is. I wish you could all experience it just once, the way we get to every day.

Have a Great one Everybody!!!

Wow CB, you have accomplished something that very few do - total satisfaction with their life! While things may change, it is a great accomplishment! Congratulations. I think you are probably a big part of what makes the island so special.

Seems you have accomplished that goal (so have I CB)

Hope all the readers reach this pinnacle in life!!!

Congratulations on your reaching that place in life where you found complete happiness and satisfaction with your work and environment.
The pictures are awesome thanks for sharing them with us. Stay warm and dry enjoy the snow may it be light.

I think what is most awesome about where you are is the fact there is never a "spare the air" day. You have beautiful fresh air everyday... and of course moreso since you gave up the cancer sticks.
I want to see your little slice of heaven someday, too!

I love your DC updates! I totally agree with you on how fun boating is in Alaska (we just bought a boat ourselves!) and I'd love to come visit Dutch Harbor some day! Great blog!

Oh, Just to clear this up my job is FAR from "perfect", and I'm not completely Satisified with life. I do LOVE it here, but I think you always have to be trying to make things better, both for yourself and your community. there are times I get frustrated with work and the isolation here, I think everyone does, but it is still the best place I have worked/lived in my adult life.
Plus, did I mention the Eagles?

CB...congrats on a year without fast food...i don't know what i'd do without a McD's after a hangover...lol. But seriously thank you for sharing your life with us. I love reading your post and weather updates...I live in Florida where it's 90 almost year long so as dorky as I am I sit in my office and try to imagine your cold weather with some warm comfort food watching the eagles. Both kinds...the ones in alaska and the ones on a football field...lol.

CB,
I remember singing 'hotel california' and having a few drinks with you on your first day! I think that is why you stay! I love it here because it is my home. And because there are so many great people here. Thanks for being here and CONGRATULATIONS. I know when people move here it is a 50/50 chance they will stay. They usually make their money and leave. Glad you stayed.

Wow, that year went by quick! Congrats on hanging in there and seeing the bright side of things - and you're right, almost everyone out here can name the day and hour they first arrived,it is quite a special place. Goldfish and I celebrate out "Island Anniversary" every month on the 19th . . .
