Great pics as usual, CB. You'll have to introduce us to the handsome new gentlemen in the last two pictures.

Uh, those are not men of "Dutch Harbor", the only local featured in that post is Rachel and she's a CHICK!
Now, don't make me do a Real Unalaska Men post...

Reading said...

so will the next blog be Men of Dutch Harbor uncovered!!! Love the pics.

Cookie Dough said...

Are they Mermen? DH is a body of water!!
REAL Unalaska guys are the best not these fishermen that don't even live in the state of AK....OK I'm married to one, so I'm biased.
He does run a better looking boat than any of them and he does live here..

Dani said...

haha CB you really do know how to satisfy the women...great pictures!!!

Gigi said...

I have to agree with Alena and Cookie Dough. These guys don't live here, they aren't Unalaskans, and real Unalaskans refer to their home as Unalaska, not Dutch Harbor. It's "Port of Dutch Harbor," body of water..."City of Unalaska." If you want to promote local guys, use some who actually reside here year round and make it their home. Just sayin'....

Carlisleboy said...

Arrgh!!!!
Where is all the Unalaska Hate Coming From?
Did I say these were the ONLY men in Dutch Harbor?
Partial Post?
Although I do have to agree that the Stimson is a much cooler boat than most of the others.....
And Sorry Alena!, Maybe of you posted something on your blog once in a while.........LOL

Cookie Dough said...

no hate! Just clarification....
You'll find the Unalaska residents are fiercely loyal to each other and not big fans of random guys that work around here, that's all.

Alena Hope said...

uh...maybe you need to clear your cached pages I've posted three new posts in two days...at least one of them I know you'll enjoy ;)

Carlisleboy said...

I saw and Have salt down as we speak.

Lisa in Alaska said...

Umm..so, are they trying to say the the residents of Unalaska do not like or appriciate our crabbers working from there? Hope none of them ever eat crab then...Yikes y'all!

CB~ Thanks you so much for pictures of the guys! They are GREAT! Keep up the great work!!

Alena Hope said...

EMTrescue: the day I pay money for king crab is the day I'm living too far away from Unalaska to pull it up off the ocean floor myself.

Lisa in Alaska said...

well, we DON"T all live in Unalaska, and are unable to go get our own crab. I like my crab, and pay for it, and am very aware of those guys who go out every season to make sure there is crab available for who wants it.

Cookie Dough said...

Of course these guys work hard and of course we appreciate them!! We love the revenue they bring to UNALASKA...They're Deadliest Catch guys and should be identified that way...that's all.
And yeah, I only eat crab that my family catches. There are advantages to being here!

Carlisleboy said...

Hey Ladies
At least I did not post pictures of SIG!!!

Cookie Dough said...

THANK YOU for that LOL LOL....

Lisa in Alaska said...

CB! You are the BEST! I love ALL the photos you post, no matter who is in them.

So show some pics of some true blue natives to Unalaska please. I wish I lived near water so I could catch my own crab! So is someone gonna put me up for a week if I ever manage to get up there lol.

Gigi said...

We're not fighting, just trying to keep it real. We love our little island home and want the information to be factual. Somebody has to keep CB in line. LOL As a newcomer, he's still learning Unalaska etiquette. Peace and love. :)

OK, next to the Sunday Brunch posts this is my favorite CB post "theme" and hope it becomes a regular installment. Pimp out all the guys you want CB - DC guys, local guys, tourists....I will happily check them all out.

And my Prince Charming is where???

Greentigereyes said...

CB post all the pics of men you want, esp. those from DC! And your sunrises, they are so beautiful! Please continue to post pics of Unalaska it's so different from the lower 48. We catch crab right off our pier here ... wish they were King Crab ... but MD Blue Crab with Old Bay is good too.

Aren't there any men on Unalaska Island old enough for your sweet Auntie?

Elizabeth Douglas said...

Dutch Harbor...Unalaska...I gots no dog in this fight! However, I always appreciate pictures of good looking guys native to the island or not! ;)

Reading said...

No old men up their Auntie - they froze a long time ago!!

purrduedvm said...

Sitting here amused by the banter...love the pics of the true Unalaskans and the visitors too. And hey, what's wrong with Sig pics? :)

Carlisleboy said...

Well Little Sis, Crosby from the Wizard is my first pick for you!!

Anonymous said...

Yeah where is the Sig love?

Carlisleboy said...

Sig Love? DO you guys want the long time locals to totally crucify me?

Lisa in Alaska said...

NOOOO! We do not want that!! We need our CB safe and sound!! Hugs

Kimi said...

no but Id like my Edgar pics please. Hes freaking hot! Crosby is pretty cute too though!

Lori said...

OK, at first I thought, because of the title that you would have posted "locals" because in all actually, the DC guys are not men of DH. They have just brought a lot of attention to "Unalaska" and the locals should and probably do appreciate it. On, my second thought, Johnathan is HOT! Whew, and don't you guys think I've crossed over, I'm still a Sig girl (that's for you Reading and Purrduedvm). Oh, and I'm with Kim, don't forget those Edgar pics!

Cookie Dough said...

Lori, you're hilarious! (can you reverse my fines for the compliment heheh j/k see ya later today!) I have NO PROB with CB posting pics of the guys under the correct title "DC guys" personally I miss Blake. he was the ONLY cute guy on the show ever!! What can I say? I have a type!

Anonymous said...

Well...technically, there are some guys on D/C that ARE Unalaska locals...Lenny and Freddie come to mind....

Anonymous said...

Well...Lenny has moved, but he grew up there....

Anonymous said...

CB YOU ROCK!!! Thanks so much for posting the pics. They're awesome

Janice said...

Need more Willie!!! Pics of the chef people, sheesh.

valerie said...

Thanks CB for all the great images..again..
living in a state where no one is "from" but seem to end up wouldn't Unalaska be like their 2nd home? don't they spend time and money there? just a thought

anyway.. can you tell us who that is with Mouse in that last picture? or maybe I should say is that who I think it is? if so..just gotta say wow..

Great pics thanks...and yes I agree...Sig pics please CB. I don't care what anyone says, the NW boys are adorable and that includes the handsome captain! lol

Gigi said...

Whoa...you really diss the Alaska Native people who have been here for 10,000 years when you say it's a state "no one is from..." The rest of us may have come from elsewhere but this place has been lived on for many generations by people who were pretty much unanimously devastated by invaders coming to take their land and changing their way of life, and worse...usually by force....

Anonymous said...

Yeah I agree with Melly. Can someone please tell me why Sig pics aren't aloud?

valerie said...

hummm
I'm sorry I must not have said that clearly.. I said I live in a state that no one is from, I live in california.. not Alaska
I would never assume to say anything about anywhere I am not. my only point was that the fishermen, not just the DC group probably feel like Alaska is just as much home as where ever else they are from, it was a compliment to how welcoming you all seem to be

sorry for the confusion..

The crab revenue is good. Cod and Pollock revenues are better!! Crab is not the major contributor to the seafood revenues here.

CB is a good guy, he is new to Alaska and the island. He should really spend more time here getting to know the place, the culture and people before commenting on it.

I think he should re-read the banner statement of his site and get back to it.

Deadliest Catch is a very small part of the island and community here, people outside of here don't get that from TV.

Melly said...

I don't think anyone was dissing Alaska and awww don't diss CB. Remember he's taking time out of his busy schedule to share pictures and some tidbids, out of the goodness of his own heart. He doesn't have to do this. Without him, you wouldn't be seeing these wonderful pictures of the boats, crew, and the beautiful scenery in Dutch. This is a happy place :-) Peace all!

Gigi said...

Okay, this is my last post on this topic. LOL Sorry if I misunderstood the comment about people not being from here....with no reference to California or the writer, just to Unalaska, I guess I got the wrong idea. That's one of the problems with trying to figure out what people mean through a few words instead of a face to face conversation. :) Apologies!

Not to belabor the point about the TV show, but Unalaska was here before it and will be here after it, the fishing industry has gone on whether they were here or not. Nothing AGAINST them at all, but I think the locals just get a little tired of the idea that we are all about The Deadliest Catch. We appreciate the work that the fishermen do, but these are just a few boats that get a lot of notoriety and don't really represent our community. It's frustrating when we see how much really cool stuff goes on in town that people don't know about, so that's why you have several other local bloggers covering things besides DC. So...speaking of that, we are off to a big celebration of diversity tonight, with guest speaker Father Michael Oleksa, who is very well known in Alaska. We are quite honored to have him here. Tomorrow night, the annual Aleutian Arts Council gathering/auction will be held at the hotel. We have some very talented local artists including blogger Alena and most of the rest of her family. Sunday night, book club for all us bookworms. There's always something happenin'!

Don't forget the 10 soccer games at the PCR SAT and scrapbooking on Sunday (for the ones that prefer to play rather than read!)
