Hey CB, can we get your back story? How did you go from Bob Evans in PA to the Grand Aleutian in Dutch Harbor? Did you know what you were getting into or did you just take a leap of faith? How long have you been in DH, etc? Thanks.

Hummmm, My backstory.
Maybe I will do a post on that tomorrow since it looks like I will not be heading out for any hike today what with the Gale Warning and all in effect.....

Also, question for you: if I wanted to visit DH one day, is this the time of year to visit, or the time of year to hold at arms' length due to weather?

Also, how do you get there? Fly into Anchorage and then a small commuter to Unalaska?

And my goodness, I was excited when I went out to work this morning and we had SNOW in MIssissippi. It didn't last long, nor did the sleet this afternoon, but it is a balmy 26 degrees right now, which is way cold for us.

BZ, I am sure CB will give you the scoop, but from all the stories I have heard, now is not the time to visit--you could spend all of your time stuck in Anchorage in the airport. :)

I have been to the A-P Islands in July and in August, and it is definitely worth the wait...and you can be delayed for weather even then.

Thanks CB! Very interesting and I'm sure even more so at your end. Glad Phil will be in sooner. Appears (from Steve's blog also) that you guys have been having terrible weather! Take care and stay warm!
